Unit 8 Blog

Hello all,

Out of the exercises that I have practiced during this course, I find that Loving-Kindness and Meditation work best for me. I've been trying to incorporate the Loving-Kindness exercise throughout my day especially when I'm dealing with negative feelings from other people. Although it's tough being nice to people who dont care about a positive outcome, I find that not letting things bother me as much helps with letting negative feelings go and not get wrapped into the drama.

The Meditation is a good thing. I have been using some form of it while I drive back and forth to work everyday. I do some it at night as well as Iam trying wind down to go to sleep. I would like to look into some kind of formal training and really get into it. I think that it would benefit me tremendously.

  1. I too am thinking about getting some formal training for meditation. I have recently started seeing a hypnotist, which is very similar, to help me deal with some health issues and I am loving it. I also picked the loving kindness exercise as one of my favorites because it is hard in this world to have that mind set toward people. There are people who are unappreciative, greedy, addicts, careless, ect ect, and it is hard to show kindness. However, I feel that this exercise helps to reinforce that loving mind set and reminds me that it is about me and what attitude I chose to have and not about the people around me.
