Unit 6 Blog

Hello all,

This week we are asked to practice the universal loving-kindness. This particular practice wasn't too bad. It was a simple mantra that can used at anytime might be able to serve to purpose, especially when there are people around you that make you go hmmmmm! I could myself doing this at night, as I review the actions of the day and think about who I had to deal with.

When I did the assessment practice, I found that I need to develop my personal thoughts about others and their lack of attitude and sense of entitlement that most people seem to have nowadays. At my place of work, we have many young adults who seem to think that the world revolves around them and the sense of entitlement that they seem to have. They dont bother to call when they are on schedule, or will text a friend to tell them that they wont be coming in, or they are lacking in people skills and often insert their foot in their mouth. I have problems with this.

I need to be more of a patient leader and tell them the difference. Take these young people aside and encourage them to promote themselves from within. I try not to sound like a self righteous person but all im looking for is some common sense. I understand that lack of life experience or not being supported in a postive way can bring about ego centric behavior but all I'm looking for is peace, love, and understanding.

I perhaps can  use listening skills and try to look at the other person's point of view. Silence and actively listening will show the person that I am trying to understand them and help them understand what I see when they act the way they do. The giving and taking of communication is vital in these type of situations.

  1. Hello Moonlight:)
Just wanted to say I remember those same experiences when I was in the Marines. I didn't have the tools of peace that I have now. I felt hurt, alone and angry most of my career. I now pray about specific people that are speaking or acting in an agressive way. I ask our Creator to show me their hurt so I may pray for them and gain compassion for them. Sometimes it comes in a full vision the pain they have suffered sometimes it is subtle hints they demonstrate through out the day. Just this past week I had an asignment to intoduce Wind Energy to a large group of people via internet. I had one person that was nasty mean posting horrible lies about the Wind Energy project. I told him that he seems to have a real passion for his writings and that he can use his gift of persuasion in a positive manor. I challanged him in public by saying all great debators can come up with truths about 2 opposite sides. I told him he has written the negative now lets see if he is a true debator and can write about the positive side of wind energy. There was no way out for him either he proves he is a great debator and can find positive aspects or he keeps his mouth shut. So far he has kept his mouth shut:)
